Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has admitted that he made a mistake in selecting his working mate for the presidency in 1999.

In 1999, Obasanjo’s working mate was former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku has been named the PDP’s presidential candidate for the 2023 election.

Obasanjo spoke at a administration and entrepreneurship mentoring session with chosen faculty faculty college students in Abeokuta.

The former president refused to say he didn’t make errors, claiming that he did.

One issue that had occurred to him was that God had certainly not disenchanted him, which was essential to him.

“For example, choosing a number two when I was going to be President was one of the mistakes I made.” But because of it was an actual mistake, God saved me,” he outlined.

Obasanjo moreover mentioned that he erred by not searching for asylum throughout the United States when the late despotic ruler, General Sani Abacha, wished to arrest him.

He outlined that when Abacha requested his arrest, the American ambassador educated him that they’d arrest him and that America had requested that he be granted asylum.

Obasanjo acknowledged he declined and would return home, saying it might have been a mistake because of he could have misplaced his life.

He claimed that when he made errors, God was always there to help him.
